Okay, first of all, I'm not injured/have a history of an injury, so don't worry about that. However, I am curious about injuries after BCT. What happens to you if you're playing volleyball during your intramurals and you block wrong and tear your ACL (happened to someone on my team, that's why I'm using this as an example)? I mean, they've invested a ton of money and you're already well into your time at the Academy. What happens if something major happens after your commitment during 3dig year?

I have no plan on actually find this out for myself, just wondering though.

Well, you're treated and it's much the same as being injured while going to any school. You will be medically excused from the things you can't handle. Once my son had some kind of rash and they gave him a medical waiver from shaving for a month. He loved it! Don't worry about this. However, it's a bit different if you're injured during basic; then they have to make a judgement call as to whether or not you can't or didn't go through enough of it to have to go in with the next class. Injuries after Basic are much less "serious" in that sense.

After BCT, if people injure themself seriously like ACL tears or broken major bones (legs usually), they tend to opt to go home for a year to heal. Part of that is guilt for some people as well so they don't have to sit around all year and watch their classmates be trained while they watch. But, that's their option, they can stay. Another advantage of going home though is that you have that year to heal and academically prepare more AND you get to return AFTER BCT so you don't have to do it again. Disadvantage being you don't know your new classmates as well.

Bottom line is: Once you're out of BCT, injuries are far less likely to have you sent home unless they prevent you from being commissionable.
