you fill out a form on their website and they send you a letter in the mail saying which doctor to go to and how to make your appointment
you want to do it early or else itll be hard to get done because everyone from all the service academies and getting ROTC Scholarships have to go through them

My son just got his Dodmerb stuff in the mail and it was just a standard doctor's office and optometrist about a half hour away from us that we had to make appointments at.

It definitely won't be at a military facility. DODMERD contracts with various doctor's to provide this service.

Unless they changed it in the past couple years, it is possible for the DoDMERB exam to be done a military facility. I had mine done at Great Lakes Naval Station. Granted, there are very few full service medical facilities on bases anymore. It's too expensive, and most have nearby hospitals.

DoDMERB can be an obstacle to the application process, but the majority of it is about persistance.

It's far back now, but when I was applying my first time (back in 2000, lol), I was disqualified by DoDBERB. Then I ran out of time to provide a sufficient rebuttal by the time I was supposed to leave for inprocessing. (Less than a week before inprocessing, I had still not gotten a final answer!) When I applied the second time, I easily got a waiver.

My issues were due to dental malocclusion, by the way. In other words, my front teeth don't close all the way. They also noted my top four teeth in front do not have enamel, so they thought I had acid reflux of bulimia. However, the bottom line is that I did eventually get to USAFA. I just had to do a little more work than planned to get there!

I stand corrected on the military facility use. Incredible that they had room for that type of work considering they can't even keep their appointments open for active duty people ha.

Yeah, that's happened to me - I had childhood asthma and they asked for ALL MEDICAL RECORDS FROM BIRTH TO PRESENT (I had it worse haha)

I also had to give away my life story medically. No worries though.

They asked for my entire medical history as well, the file looked like a giant textbook! (I have broken A LOT of bones)
