Thanks again. I am so excited that I will get to experience this great opportunity. My rejection letter for the Summer seminar is still taped to my wall right above this computer. I am happy that I was rejected, knowing know that it only motivated me more. Thanks again.

I'm curious how it works when the appointment is announced from a call or email from the MOC. I assumed this notification came from the AFA.

Vullnnoid - as a courtesy to the MOC the SAs notify them about a week before they mail out an appointment so that the MOC can contact the candidate directly, if they so choose. Not all MOCs make the contact but many do. Sometimes the MOC calls directly and sometimes they have a staff member notify the candidate - and sometimes they just let the candidate find out by receiving the appointment in the mail from the SA.

My Son got his appointment out of the blue (in the mail) with no heads up from either the DoDMERB or candidate website, and no call from the MOC. He called the principal staffer who handles the SA's to thank her for her help and thank the Congressman, and she told him, after the congrats, that they would actually be dealing with each other off and on for the next four years. That's something I hadn't considered before.
