SAT Scores

I have taken the SATs already 4 times. I just received my Oct. scores and got a 580 on reading. I have gotten that same score the last 2 times I have taken them. I got a 800 on math and 650 on writing. I took them again solely for the purpose of improving my reading score.

Will I be able to get into the academy with a 580 in reading or do I really need to still improve it. I don't know that taking them for a 5th time is really going to help me improve my scores.

I don't know what to do... Any help/suggestions on where I should go from here ??

Thanks.

Max

I have a feeling that your math score will help to outweigh the verbal score.

Agree with Hornet on this one. That's a perfect math score - way to go!

I'm not sure what you are asking. Take the SAT again. Get an SAT prep book. Go online and take the practice tests. Try to improve. The above posts are correct. The high Math score is a great indicator for success at an engineering school. This is just me, but when you go to your Nomination interview, I think it is more impressive when they say, "your SAT scores are pretty good..." and you reply, "Well, I'm not happy with the 580, so I've gotten a book, I have a weekend class, and I'm retaking in November...". Actions speak louder than words. If you can show through your actions that you are taking every opprtunity to be Appointed, the low score will be overwritten by the high points for character (metaphorically speaking). Never give up.

obviously higher scores are best for your chances, but i wouldn't sweat it. you've already taken it numerous times, so it's clearly an indicator of your abilities.

i know it's bad to compare, but i got in with pretty similar scores for the SAT. now i also took the ACT and did pretty well and have a great record otherwise.

and this stuff never ends. i have a great record toward getting a grad school slot, except my GRE verbal score was atrosious. (see, i can't even spell that). so it's definetely hurting me now. i would work more on reading in general and developing habits that way as opposed to trying to study to beat a test at this point.
