Sorry - my daughter is interested in history and political science, so I'm not familiar with these departments. Anyone else? Shennie?

As something of an indicator:

Placement

In the past 10 years, 36 Alleghenians have been admitted to dental school, representing a 90% acceptance rate.
Other acceptances since 1988 (seniors and alumni): 15 of 19 applicants to veterinary schools; 9 of 11 applicants to optometry schools; 5 of 5 applicants to podiatry schools.
Alleghenians have been admitted to over 50 medical schools since 1988.

The 10 most popular:

Bio, Chem, Psych, and Math are all very strong departments. Pre-med is also a very strong program as outlined by ohmadre. Philosphy is probably not as strong as the others and Physics is very small. I don't think they have very many physics majors. Overall, Allegheny is a very strong science school with wonderful facilities and a great faculty.

BlndeGrl - my daughter has been accepted as a freshman for fall 06. Hasn't made a decision yet if she will attend (waiting to hear on some others before making decision). But I would be very happy if she chose Allegheny.
