Recommended Hotels for visit?

We are going to visit Allegheny in August. Would anyone recommend any good hotels or places to eat? The Holiday Inn is already booked up for that day.
Guess we are looking at the Days Inn or Quality Inn? Any suggestions?

Meadville is a small town. Any of the hotels should be fine and they will all be within a few miles of the campus. There are mostly fast food restaurants, but I think there are a few local places downtown. If you contact the admissions office, they will be more than happy to recommend some places to you. Enjoy your visit!

What weekend are you going - orientation is the second last weekend in August and I noticed that this was also a visit day on Friday. That is going to be hard to find a place. We have stayed at the Quality Inn 3x, it is fine. Mention Allegheny for a discount.

If you are open to a bed and breakfast I would recommend the Mayor Lord's House Bed and Breakfast. It is two blocks from campus and is set up with doubles and twins in most rooms. They offer an Allegheny College discount. My daughter and I stayed there in June and we liked it much better than the major hotel chains. I would recommend eating at the Artisan's Cafe near the old town market. It is very good. If you want something quick Allegheny College students have been eating at the Whole Darn Thing sub shop for years. It is also near the historic town market.

We are going to Allegheny for the open house on friday the 21st. Since Orientation starts the next day, we decided to alter our plans a little. We will be coming up from the Pittsburgh area instead and drive a little way home to nj after the open house and stay in a hotel along the way.
