Arabic @ American

Does anyone have current information on the relative strength and depth of American's Arabic language instruction? Thanks.

American offers Arabic through the Advanced level (300 series) with 400 series courses available as a study abroad option. There is an Arabic Minor available but not a major. There is also an Arab Studies minor. There is also a certificate in Arab Studies, which is essentially both the Arabic language and Arab Studies minors combined. Up to date information is available here: Middle East Studies | American University, Washington, DC

I do believe they have non-recurring (rotating) 400-level courses on campus as well. For example "business Arabic", "Arabic poetry", or "Levantine Arabic" are all 400-level courses I remember being offered on campus. AU also has some of the only study abroad programs in certain Arabic-speaking countries such as Syria, along with one of the highest study abroad rates as well. Additionally an Arabic language track was added this year to the Business, Language, and Culture major in the business school.
