hahaha... don't be ridiculous.... you will definately (99.9%) get in... Your stats are little bit better than mine and I got like a decent merit scholarship. But don't worry so much! You still have a whole year left in high school.... and the whole summer to worry about college!

If you're a National Merit Semifinalist (depends on your state, but a 222 would certainly get you there in mine!), you're almost certainly going to get Finalist status. Something like 15/16 applicants do if I'm not mistaken. I think American sponsors as scholarship for finalists, so there's a little added bonus, eh?

Could I get in with my standing SAT scores:
590 Math
600 Verbal
660 Writing
I'm taking again in June, probably again first available after summer, I took that first one in December with no prep

You also have a shot at several more prestigious schools, esp in the DC area like GW, which is more competitive than AU, which I think you can easily get into. Maybe even Gtown..

Yeah, you'd get into the AU honors program at AU and will most likely give you the the Prez Scholarship too (25K). The only reason you'll be coming hear is if you really want to be in DC and don't get money from/don't like GW or don't get in/don't get money from Gtown.
Seems that you live in Michigan and UMich is an excellent option there.

Happygolucky--GW is MUCH more prestigious than AU, maybe not better, but it is more prestigious.

I have to go with Happy on this one. In the real world, the difference in prestige between AU and GW rarely means much. If you were talking Gtown vs. those schools, yeah it matters.
