Its not too late at all to apply!

And there are lots of jobs. They can all be found if you log on to you my.american.edu portal and click on the side bar that says "employment" there you will find a full list of the work study jobs offered on campus. What kind of job you want is up to you. If you want something more fast paced work in an office, a friend of mine works in her advior's office and loves it! If you want something that you can just chill and do your homework, apply for a job at the library.

Its really up to you and what you want to do. Good luck!

There are quite a few jobs available, as tortoe mentioned. And the best way to find most of them is through the employment page on my.american.edu.

I'd also recommend applying at the Phonathon, if you want a job with maximum flexibility and student-friendly hours. You only have to work two shifts. And shifts are offered Monday-Thursday 5:45-9:30, as well as one shift Saturday afternoon and two shifts on Sunday. It's easy to switch shifts with someone as well. Plus, you work in the basement of Anderson, so you don't have to go far!

Is there anything available for a freshman that isn't work-study?

Yes indeed -- listings for both work study and non-work study jobs can be found here:

Yes, Phonathon is not work study. Here's the email that went out recently asking for applicants:

The AU Phonathon is looking to hire student callers for the fall semester! As a student caller, you will serve as an ambassador of the University, calling alumni and parents to update records, talk to them about recent events and news on campus, and ask for their financial support for AU.

You will also gain marketable skills potential employers look for. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills, school spirit, be driven to succeed, have a willingness to learn, and be reliable. The job requires you to work two shifts per week, about 8 hours a week, with more hours available. We call Sunday - Thursday evening. You will be paid $9/hour plus great bonuses! Interviews will begin next week and calling will start on August 25th.

Please email Meaghan Cassidy at cassidy@american.edu for an application.
