D moved into Hughes yesterday--her room is set up as a forced triple (though one of the roomies is apparently not coming), with one set of bunk beds and one lofted bed. I thought both the top bunk and the lofted bed looked awful, very hard to get in and out of, because there's no ladder, you have to use the footboard to climb in and out. Also, with that set-up none of the three can a bed to just plop on or have friends plop on during the day (we both smacked out heads just trying to make up the lower bunk). The space that's available under the lofted bed is like a cave, dark and dreary. It's intended to fit a desk, but personally, I wouldn't want to do work there. So if you just have a double, I think you'd be happier not lofting a bed. There's adequate room so long as you're not squeezing in three people.
