Which application?

I know AU gives you the choice of either using the Common App or their application. Is there an advantage to using their application? How is it diff. from the Common App? I asked one of their AD's and they told me that there wasn't an advantage to either, however, I'd like to get some input from others who have been through this.

My son used the Common App and actually only applied to it because it was so easy to just check a box on the Common App. I heard his roomates at American also saying something similar (by the way, they are all in the honors program, don't know if that makes a difference - they were all very highly qualified candidates)

In order for a school to accept the Common App, they have to agree not to discriminate between their own application and the Common App in any way. So, I think the Common App is definitely the way to go.
