What are your students...

What are your students doing for fun? What have they become involved in?

I wish I knew! Unfortunately, I don't hear much in the way of details from my student....He texts now and then--For example today he texted me to ask the square footage of our home...I can only imagine this is for some class discussion/assignment on resource use in his environmental chem class, but don't really know.

He did mention he had joined the student democrats, but this may have been to receive meal discounts at some local place....

^you are funny! meal discounts...now, give him more credit!

D is a figure skater and tried out for and made the intercollegiate team so that takes up a fair amount of time. She goes exploring in g'town and Arlington with a few friends. She hits the movies and is thinking about some leadership things (not sure what) and a sorority....she is very happy at AU.

my D is very very happy at AU! she loves the school and DC! it's difficult to have a real conversation with her... she is so busy all the time!! however i know that she had joined the French club, the students government, and that she went to a French Ambassy diner, a symphony at the Capitol, she also cleaned the Potomac and went canoing! she is all the time with friends.. the other day they decided to go visit DC's monuments at night.. she said it was amazing! she also loves her classes! and she is doing very well so far! ( i knock on wood!) so far so good!! I'm a happy mom!

I'm so happy to hear about kids doing and getting out and about. My S the soccer freak is playing on a club team and also an intramural team and has tickets for the national team game next month. He has gone to some club meetings but so far is leery of making too many commitments...he's afraid they might get in the way of spontaneous fun. He loves exploring DC with his friends, especially the ethnic eateries.

While we were in DC last week, S3 ditched us for an evening because he had tickets for Ben Folds at the Kennedy Center with a 90-piece orchestra. He said it was great. He got together afterwards for dinner with friends from GW and an old EC adviser who worked with them. They went to Ben's Chili
