Amherst College 2012 Fall Transfer

Hi, so this is for all the people who've applied to Amherst for the Fall of 2012 as a transfer applicant. I couldn't seem to find a thread of it, I know I can't be the only one out there, so I'm making one. Leave all the information who have, please.

Hi--

Non-standard applicant here. And it's my first-choice.

I have applied as a transfer for the fall 2012 semester. Amherst is definitely my top pick by far. I also am a non-traditional student.

By non-traditional do you guys mean African American first generation? Because I am as well. Do you guy wanna post y’all’s stats and where y’all are transferring from? I’m coming from the University of Texas in Arlington...

I'm non-traditional in that I did not go to college directly after high school. Instead, I worked for four years. I am currently at Montgomery College in MD.

Oh. When I called them back like last semester the admissions office said that most of their transfers were from a community college/2 year college.

Yea, I think about 60% or so tend to be from a CC.

Ahh mine:

GPA: 4.0
SATS: didn’t submit, scared

umm was in International Baccalaureate in high school, got 30 hours of college credit. Completing 30 this year.

Technically a sophomore from credit hours but I call myself a freshman

EC’s in college: Volunteer, Dean’s List, Black Student’s Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters

High School: Spanish/French/National Honor Society, Academic Quiz League, Junior Worlds Affairs Council, Future Business Leaders of America. Held office in all.

sigh...

Word is that not much attention is paid to secondary school performance among the non-traditional students. I know of two current non-traditional Amherst students there who had under a 2.4 GPA in high school.
This semester I have five classes and two more in the summer, so I guess I'm a sophomore and a half, but who knows what will transfer.
I actually hope that the answer is not too much, so I can spend as much time at Amherst as possible

Haha but I’m traditional I think no? I attended university right after high school. Well that information was asked for on the Common App so eh it might be considered. I just want to hear back...some colleges that had the same notify date as Amherst like NYU and UT Austin are already sending out notifications.

Yes, you are definitely traditional. I was just giving an explanation for why I did not include my high school stats. The results seem to come out in early May for all my schools, so it's going to be a rocky/joyous week leading into finals :-/
