I think I would move 1 or 2 down, but agree with most of it.

Excellent compilation. They even have Swat ahead of Cornell (an Ivy).
I might switch MIT and Dartmouth though and give Columbia the #7 spot ahead of the top two LAC's. Having said that it is still very accurate IMHO.

I wouldn't put Claremont McKenna above Pomona or UT-Austin ahead of Tufts.

agreed...Tufts and Wesleyan are way out of order and should be placed higher.

i think Pomona should be above UCLA and NYU, but otherwise, it seems rather acurate. What's that based on?

Switch Princeton and Harvard and Notre Dame ahead of NYU, and I agree with Pongo. Also, the list appears to be missing a few of the top LACs, but I'm too lazy right now to go check which ones they are.

Ah, I see...It says "by prestige"- which would explain some of the issues people have commented on above. But, if prestige is the judge, what is Williams doing so high on the list- who, besides us CC'ers, has even heard of it? Or WUSTL for that matter?

Oddly, I agree with neither the list, nor any of you ... it's so subjective!

But Williams is VERY prestigious, for a LAC. It is in the division of schools academics see as prestigious. Same with most LACS, like Amherst or Swat.

hmmm, i was about to strenuously object to washU st. louis being so low on the list, especially below UMich, Georgetown, and Berkeley, esp. when considering undergrad, but then I noticed the "prestige" part...doesn't seem like too bad a list, I don't have too many major objections. Brown's high placement (compared to other Ivies) surprises me, as does Carleton's low rating (compared to how high they're sticking some other small LACs), but i'd say the overarching pattern is sound
