best cell phone service

I am thinking of getting a new cell phone plan, and was wondering that which carrier works best at Amherst.

I have T-Mobile and it kinda sucked when I went there for prefrosh. It was nice in some areas, but in others it had no service whatsoever...

so how do Cingualr/Verizon/Sprint-Nextel/T-Mobile stack up?

We had T-Mobile, and with their store just down the road from our house, we had no service in the house! For Amherst, after asking around, we got D Verizon. It works.

Verizon works really well, and a lot of people have it, meaning verizon to verizon calls are free.

I'd go verizon, good service, pretty cheap plans, large network

I'd actually suggest Cingular. The school has a Cingular tower on campus, though I think next year we should have a Verizon tower.

I had T-Mobile the first semester, which I don't really recommend. It works great outside, but not much at all inside the dorms.

Now I have Sprint, and it works awesome all the time, even indoors. I've never had a problem with Sprint reception on campus/near campus.

From my day staying at amherst, verizon worked well on campus, but inside the dorm room, I didn't really get service.

so basically they are all good except T-Mobile?

I am hearing mixed opinions about Verizon indoors... Ofcourse it is important for the cell phone to work well inside too (classes/dorms etc)

thanks a lot for all the guys who have already replied

I live in Amherst, and Verizon has the best service here. Cingular is the only viable alternative, but Verizon really is much more reliable. You can get cingular, and be alright with it; my friends have it and it has some holes, but Verizon has more coverage.
