Changes proposed by the CAP

As many of you may or may not know, Tony Marx (the president of Amherst) and the Committee on Academic Priorities have announced their suggestions for changes and improvements to be made at Amherst; among the suggestions are increasing the size of the next incoming class, increasing Amherst's efforts at identifying and admitting underpriveleged students, enhancing the strength and breadth of the curriculum offered, and enacting some sort of writing requirement for students.

Here are links to all of the information and debate thus far on the subject:

Read the actual report by the CAP - http://www.amherst.edu/~cap/
Read BusinessWeek's controversial article about the new changes (don't forget to read the Related Items)- http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...9/b3973087.htm
Read Tony Marx's response to the article - http://halogen.note.amherst.edu/~ast...8/news/02.html

So what does everybody think?
