Tuition Management Systems - monthly pay

This is a question for any Amherst parents who have used the monthly payment plan.....

first, is there anyone reading who fits that description?

My parents are doing it. I haven't really asked, but it seems to be working out just fine.

Maybe you can shed some light, Catfish........

The FA award my son got had a certain amount expected from us (parents) and another amount he is expected to make in summer earnings that will go to the school (also workstudy, but setting that aside for the moment).

How do you pay your summer earnings contribution? ... assuming you do that.

I registered with the Tuition Mgmt System, breaking the amount we (parents) owe into monthly payments. But I didn't include the amount my son is expected to earn, because it's his responsibility to do that -- and of course he will, but he won't have it fully earned until near the end of summer. I'm just curious how they bill that sort of thing -- like can he pay it at the end of the summer, or incrementally throughout the summer? I just don't want to bundle that amount into our monthly payments because we're going to have a hard enough time making them as it is.

What's your experience with this? (If you're willing to share, that is.)

I'm not sure, but I believe that my parents rolled my summer earnings contribution in with theirs on the installment plan. If you want, you can probably talk to the people at Key Bank and do the same and have your son repay you when he has the money earned. That might simplify things. I'm not sure how things would work if you didn't go that route. The FA office could probably answer that.

Thanks. I've tried calling the FA office twice, got machines, left messages, got no call back... so I figured I'd fish around a little here. I will be trying them again, of course. Thanks for your input, though, I appreciate it!
