so just a couple questions i need answered...

1. How many teacher recommendations are needed. It's 2 right?

2. Is it easier to be admitted if applying ED or is the reason why the acceptance rate is higher because it's more competitive, recruited athletes, etc.

Yes, two.

Not necessarily. There's no harm in applying Early if you're committed to Amherst. If you're competitive, worst case scenario, you'll be deferred, and you'll be evaluated later. If you are still set on Amherst, you can write a letter of continued interest to the admissions committee after the end of the year. They'll acknowledge the strength of your profile keeping in mind that you had applied Early--that you were willing to make the commitment--and that you are still interested in attending and would attend if given the opportunity.

If Amherst left a strongly positive impression on you, and you're intent on spending your next four years here, apply Early.
