I'm about to send in my ED application in the next few days. I was just wondering if you guys thought that it was OK if my supplement is 300 words. I sort of took the approach that the admissions people really don't want to read two 500 word essays.

If you feel you covered what you wanted to say in a very succinct but deep way, than yes. It says 250-500 words. However, if it's at all too skimming, you have room to dig.

I agree with Modadunn. On the other hand, you probably shouldn't be thinking about it as a matter of how many words they want to read. If they didn't want to read two 500 word essays, then they wouldn't have asked for it. They are trying to give you the space to reveal something about how you think, to revel something about who you are. If you feel like you accomplised that in half as many words, great. But frame the question that way, not like you're cutting it short for their benefit. You might be letting yourself off the hook with that rationale.
