I doubt anyone will read this or respond, but whatever, here goes nothing.

I have yet to hear from my top three choices but, out of the four schools I have heard from, I have been rejected from one low on my list, waitlisted at one of my top choices and accepted into two safeties.

Antioch falls under safety. I was accepted with a big scholarship (12,500 per year) plus financial aid. The way things are going, this may be the school I have to attend.

So, what I'm writing to ask is, how is this school? I know there are no grades, but are the classes at least challenging and interesting? What are the students like? What is campus life like? Is it possible to get into any GOOD grad schools from Antioch?

Students complain about the classes not being challenging. The freshman year is different from most colleges. I've forgotten all the details, but be sure you understand what happens freshman year before you enroll. Many students don't understand it and complain later.

Campus life is far out, man. Antioch is one of the most liberal colleges in the nation. Yellow Springs is, likewise, very liberal. However, it's in the middle of conservative America - a very strange combination.

Antioch is having money problems, so its buildings are beginning to look seedy.

I don't know about grad schools.

i plan on attending antioch next year. originally it was my second choice, nyu being my first. now you may be thinking those are the two most oposite schools ever, and you would be right. i visited beautiful yellow springs though and fell in love. in my interaction with the students i heard mostly that classes were not a breeze, hours of reading is typical, especially freshman year during the core classes. they told me the people who get here not expecting to work and the ones who dont make it and are asked to leave. as far as campus life it seems killer. everyone i met was nice and seemed very intelligent, but i do have a sneaking suspision that i will be one of the most "normal" people there. i am a bit concerned about how small it is though. but i figure you only spend half of you time on campus any way. also it is a pretty big party school so you have to be able to manage you time well. mostly antioch has a real sense of community about it and real connections and relationships seem to form between teachers and students. if any of this helps you im glad. i feel like im a wealth of knowledge about the school, though i havent attending yet. if i can answer any other questions email me. also i am in contact with some seniors there, all of whom really helped to ease some of my fears. best of luck!

p.s. they have KILLER grad school stats. if you look for antioch alumni (even recent ones) on myspace youll find them at duke, emory, yale, northwestern, and some more modest schools, but still!. i think its almost 80% of their students that go on to grad school. if you have fears about that i encourage you to get in contact with an admissions counselor.

p.s.s. some of the buildings really do suck. but at least they spend the money they have where its most needed- scholarships. ill just tell you, most of the classrooms seem a lot nicer than the dorm rooms
