2012 AP score distributions

This is hard because so many are close and it really depends on the teacher and my interest in the subject. i'm also putting the grade in which I took the exam followed by my score in parenthesis, and if they were taken this year I will put predicted score with ???'s. Maybe others could do the same.

-Human Geography (9th-5) LOVED this class!


-US Gov't (12th-?5?) Comes easy to me and I only missed 3 MCQ's on the practice exam and got perfect score on the free response. I knew the material before taking the class.


-APES (12th-?5?) I know a lot of people are saying that the class is easy, but you can't get by on common sense with only 8.7% getting a 5, but I had a horrible class and knew all the material like the back of my hand. ESP on the FRQ


-Calc AB (11th-4) Didn't try hard at all and still did well.


-Calc BC (12th- ?4?) Not a fan of series...specifically taylor. I love math, but I don't want to be an engineer.


-AP Eng Lit (12th-?4/5?) I am horrible at MCQ, bt rock the essays...provided they read my extra pages...plus my teacher made us feel like we were in kindergarten- this was my own writing ability! not her teaching!


-AP Eng Lang (11th-4) See above, except I had an awesome teacher who brought my writing skills from good to great. She doesn't believe in the perfect essay so you can only get a 90 if it is superb, but I was the first person and only person to get a 9, so she gave me a 95 and extra credit.


-AP Macro (12th-?4?) I liked my teacher and the idea s easy, but he had the AC turned off and it would be 105 in the classroom- can't concentrate, esp right after lunch.


-AP Stats (11th-3)- would have done better if I didn't take it after English and fell asleep during the free response...


-APUSH (11th-4) didn't like my teacher!!!!!!! She doesn't like people who do well, but don't try hard...


-WHAP (10th-3) too much memorizing


-AP Comp Sci (12th-?3/4?) Idk what I thought about this one. It can go any way for me.


-AP Physics C: Mechanics (12th- ?4?) I thought I was doing poorly, so I gave up trying, but got solid 4's on all mock exams with steady improvement and almost got a 5 on the last one.


-AP Biology (11th- 2) We learned one semester of material and barely knew that stuff


-AP French (12th- ?2?) Je ne sais pas!!!! I actually think I did better than I thought I would, but I barely speak French. I had a horrible French 1&2 teacher and my French 3&4 teacher didn't care and tried to build on stuff I (and my class) didn't know. grrrr

Just way to much to memorize in Euro....
Also, stats was really easy for me for some reason. Everything just seemed to click inside my head. I thought the AP Exam wasn't that bad...

For me, World History has been the hardest. The class was extremely easy (maybe why?) and the exam was extremely hard for me :/ I also took it in 9th grade..

Of the two I've taken, the AP Chemistry class was much harder than the AP Euro class, but the exams are flipped: AP Chemistry (easier), AP Euro (harder)

Obviously, history is not my strong suit, and Vergil was just too much for a year long course. Anyone taking Latin this coming year, you're lucky the Vergil exam was nixed.

I'm not a native French speaker, so French was definitely the most difficult for me (even after 5 years!) While my AP Physics class wasn't too bad, I had a hard time with the FR section on the AP test this year..

I took the human geo exam in 9th grade, and I'm not going to lie, I found it harder than eng lang and AP us history. I don't get why its deemed the easiest AP exam offered.

^ I think the Human Geo exam depends on the person. For people who are math or econ type people who like it when there is a logical process to the class where what you learn first needs to be retained to be applied to what you learn throughout the rest of the year. Whereas, those same people may not be inclined to reading comprehension sections like English MCQ's or fact memorizing like in the histories. I know that is the way for me, and the only reason I did well on those types of exams is because I can write well. However, I will say my writing is different in the sense that it isn't the poetic, figurative language type of writing, and is more analytical/logical based which works well and gives me high points and is different than most people's writing that although it may still be analytical the way graders want, it is more artsy for lack of a better term. (My vocabulary also sucks as you can tell, which is also part of that "artsy" bit I'm talking about etc). Maybe this just explains why certain people deem certain exams easier.
Not to offend anyone, but as one of the analytical people, I feel like we do have it a bit easier since we get the analytical/logical exams easier, but can still understand the more liberal arts type exams (math/science vs english/history etc). IDK this has just been what I have observed, but is not at all taking away from all you people out there that are awesome at English and everything. I wish I could do reading comprehension like y'all. Maybe I have a weird brain, because I can analyze a text well in writing, but get half my answers wrong when it comes to MCQ's in English just because it's too nitpicky for me.
Just my thoughts.

I've taken 4 APs so far (3 more next year): Calc AB, US History, Biology, and English Lang.
Of all 4 of them, the easiest was Calc AB (Honestly). But that's probably because the concepts just click. I found the exam to be super easy, too. Got all the questions done and I don't think I really missed any (except a silly misread of one part of a question, but that's it).
English Lang was THE HARDEST for me. I'm really good with the essays, but the MCQ are hard for me for some reason. I couldn't ever get past a 36/54 on them (we'll see the scores when they come out).
APUSH: I don't think the class is too bad if you have a good teacher. But I went to an inner city school with a poor AP program. Teacher sucked, it was my first year taking AP (so I knew nothing about the program, or how to study or prepare. He said we didn't NEED to *sigh* and I believed him). No one has passed it in 7 years. Got a 1. I left the school because of that. I go to a wayy better school now and I'm confident that I got 4/5s in all the other tests I mentioned.
Bio: lots of memorization. Not bad though. If you keep up with the learning and memorization AND studying (for tests) during the year, AP review won't seem too daunting. Get flashcards...that is the key (the Barron's flashcards are best).

I'm taking Chem, Calc BC, and English Lit this year, so I'll let you know how that turns out
And I'll put the scores for Lang, Calc AB, and Bio on when I get them on Sunday... that's the real determining factor.
