Cliffs

Cliffs Notes are the best for AP Biology. Not to be rude, but this has been emphasized many times.

Also, The best review may not whats "best" for you. It could be something else.

Dont take something from other people's perspective.

Cliffs is one of the best out there. Some suggest 5 steps to a 5.

Go to some bookstore and read both of them.. See whats more interesting and challenging for you.

Do whatever it takes to get a 5.

Someone needs to make ONE masterlist of all the books. I might do it when I have time during the summer for next year's kids but...seriously. People are asking about things that have been repeatedly answered on the threads.

I would REALLY love for multiple lists of this to eliminate ALL further questions. Individual lists such as "best for complementing class" and "best for practice tests" or "best for overall review" would be great. This way each person's individual circumstances can be handled. For example, I still want to know what books to use throughout the year to help with BC and world history, and which books have the best practice tests for those. This thread can answer all those questions!

I like rocker's individual lists--can't think of any other categories besides "what NOT to use."

Possibly "self study" though the lists might get excessive.

Self-study would be the most useful category though.

And maybe when you say 'Best' you should say "Most Accurate". For some, the best test might be the hardest test.

Best for independent study and best for self-study are synonymous. The last list I think should be added is "What not to use." When it comes to the "Most Accurate" thing, I've made some changes to the lists that you might like.

If you add a review book to the list, include the appropriate letters as indicated by the legend, where applicable.

Best Practice Tests

Legend:

O - Overly difficult practice tests.
A - Accuracy (practice tests that are most similar to the real thing).

Art History -
Biology -
Calculus AB -
Calculus BC -
Chemistry -
Macroeconomics -
Microeconomics -
English Language -
English Literature -
Environmental Science -
European History -
U.S. Govt & Politics -
Physics B -
Physics C -
Psychology - Barron's (A)
Spanish Language -
Spanish Literature -
Statistics -
U.S. History -
World History -

Best for Independent Study

Legend:

I - Good for use independently (without any other materials such as textbooks).
T - Could be used independently, but an in-depth knowledge requires a textbook.
Q - Questions throughout the book that help reinforce information (practice tests do not count).
E - Easy to read.
S - A lot of superfluous information.
P - Practice tests included.

Art History -
Biology -
Calculus AB -
Calculus BC -
Chemistry -
Macroeconomics -
Microeconomics -
English Language -
English Literature -
Environmental Science -
European History -
U.S. Govt & Politics -
Physics B -
Physics C -
Psychology - Barron's (T, Q, E, S, P)
Spanish Language -
Spanish Literature -
Statistics -
U.S. History -
World History -

Best for Complementing Class

Legend:

H - Helpful in preparing for random tests throughout the year, apart from the actual exam.
N - Not strictly a review book (can be used to teach material, and not just to review it).
T - Teacher recommendation.
P - Practice tests included.

Art History -
Biology -
Calculus AB -
Calculus BC -
Chemistry -
Macroeconomics -
Microeconomics -
English Language -
English Literature -
Environmental Science -
European History -
U.S. Govt & Politics -
Physics B -
Physics C -
Psychology - Barron's (H, N, T, P)
Spanish Language -
Spanish Literature -
Statistics -
U.S. History -
World History -

What NOT to use

Legend:

N - Not enough information.
T - Too much information (extra information is good, but not to the point where you can't differentiate between the useful stuff, and the filler).
H - Hard to understand.
P - No practice questions included in the review book.
U - Unhelpful practice questions.
O - Price of book much greater than actual value.

Art History -
Biology -
Calculus AB -
Calculus BC -
Chemistry -
Macroeconomics -
Microeconomics -
English Language -
English Literature -
Environmental Science -
European History -
U.S. Govt & Politics -
Physics B -
Physics C -
Psychology -
Spanish Language -
Spanish Literature -
Statistics -
U.S. History -
World History -

And yes, I just realized that a lot of the letters used for the legend seem randomly chosen, but, I assure you, this is not the case. Most letters are the first letter of a key word in the description.

If you add to the list(s), copy and paste ALL of the previous lists for easier access. Also, make sure to make the titles ("What NOT to use," etc.) bold and underlined. You can do this by pressing Ctrl and B, then Ctrl and U.

They changed the format of AP Spanish Language this year and I think only Barron's has a new book that reflects that.
