| 2008-2009 Classes Discussion okay so im a sophomore right now......stressing over my next year classes (junior) just because i dont want to screw up because i want to apply to one of those Pre-Med/MD programs
anyways this is how my schedule goes
-AP Eng. Lang (not sure if i should take this or stick with regular)
- Acc. Trig
- AP Chem (i need some advice for this class)
- Reg or Honors Physics ( some say just go to AP in 12th but im not so sure)
- AP Gov
- This last hour im thinking of doing CO-OP which is school-work. I will get employed and it will count as credit. Plus it will be in hospital since im going into medical field. But i have a feeling that school and work will put me under too much pressure. I need to do some ECs as well. So for you who are experienced or want to help, please do.
btw, you guys can post ur classes up too. |

| Are you taking Physics C? If so, don't you have to be enrolled in calc or have taken the course already
My senior schedule (tentative):
AP Physics C
AP English Lit
AP Stats
AP European History
AP Art History
AP or Honors US Gov |

| Definitely take AP English language. That's very standard. Also, you should probably take AP Gov and trig. However, you could choose to do either science class. IMO, if you're going to do co-op, you should take AP Chem. If you really don't want to take AP chem, then do honors physics. The key is to have the most demanding course that you can handle. |

| - gpax - i am thinking about taking either honors physics or regular one next year and then AP phys. B in senior
- kyle- thanks for the input but why the emphasis on AP Eng Lang.?
second, i want to take AP Chem since i am pretty interested in medical field......but at the same time i want to take physics.....but my only fear is that if i take AP phy without regular physics in junior year i will struggle so i am thinking about both?
i am actually not sure about co-op as it will take away my time from other stuff like volunteering, research stuff, ECs. what do you guys recommend? |

| I'm moderately sure that I will be taking:
AP Literature
AP U.S. Government
AP Comparative Government
AP Physics B
AP Spanish or AP Macroeconomics
Creative Writing
Three of those AP classes will be taken online. I had 2 as a sophomore, plus DE Calculus, and this year I have 4. |

| Diamondbacker- that is a pretty loaded schedule. How do you plan on going about the 6 AP classes as well as working minimum 12 hours a week (Internship) usually on weekdays right after school?
i have a feeling if i was to do the same thing, my gpa will end up suffering pretty bad. |

| paki: Talk to your GC and check the prospective schools you may be applying to re: foreign language....I am almost positive that they want you to at least take 3 years at the hs level....Our hs guidance dept does not let anyone out of foreign language until they reach level IV (even with 8th grade language ) b/c of college requirements....I completely understand that you "dont feel the need for that much language", but i wouldn't want to see you have a problem later on that you are not aware of.... |

| thanks rodney.....btw yeah i checked with the guidance counselor and she told me that 2 years of language is required for graduating. However, she noted that Spanish 3 appeared on my transcript for 10th grade. She said colleges will see u are in the third level and it should not be a big deal. I live in Michigan and U-M requires two years but recommends 3 years but GC said it should not be a big concern.
I want to apply to like MSU medical scholars program and others in the future and they tend to focus more towards hectic schedule and i do not think they will show much concern for not having three years of language?
please correct me if i am wrong. |

| Paki, my suggestion is definately take AP English and Honors Physics. As for AP Chemistry, it certainly will help you get into college and a medical program, but the way the curriculum is run, it is a tough class, and, in my opinion very time consuming. If the internship takes loads of time, then I would suggest not taking AP. Is your school 4x4, AB, or 7 period day? |
