Is it true you don't need to know any battles?

My friends have Princeton Review and they say you don't need to know any battles in American Revolution, Civil War, etc...

If you're referring to the APUSH Exam, last year it was less factual based and more trend based.

Yeah US History.

Trends as in turning points and losing/winning?

btw, what is the turning point of the civil war? I thought it was Vicksburg, but then someone told me it's Gettysburg...

False...

you should definitely know that the Battle of Saratoga was significant because it signified to the French something important that I can't remember right now...lol....but definitely know about the Battle of Saratoga...I don't know about any others being important though...maybe the Battle of Meuse Argonne...

know main battles, but you will NOT be tested on military history
all you might really be tested on is causes and effects

unless of course you get a FRQ that would benefit you if you knew battles that you could throw in

The only two battles that have ever been on the exam are Saratoga because it brought the French into the war. The other was Antietam because it gave Lincoln the victory he needed in order to feel as though he could announce the Emancipation Proclamation.
