Sedimentary

Next Question: This is a biome that occurs in areas with a Mediterranean climate (hot, dry summers, cooler winters, low precipitation), and is characterized by thick growth of thorny, evergreen shrubs and frequent fires. (Typical animals include jackrabbits, chipmunks, lizards, and many species of birds)

I thought the hypolimnion was what you called the stratification of temperature - the lowest and coldest layer of lake water?

I'd have answered benthic layer - the bottom layer receiving little light and due to decomposition, has low DO content...

Passive solar, such having south-facing windows catching the sun during daylight hours, can save coal burning by reducing dependency on it for heating.

EDIT: Also, FYI, the O horizon actually contains a greater percentage of humus; it's simply that there is not always an O horizon...

I think? Thanks for making the "soils expert" of the Envirothon team at our school all mixed up again! (You'd think I'd be better at this after three years...)

If I'm wrong, I swear, I'm quitting the team. >.>

Q: What are the four types of aquatic environments?
