| PR is great. I'm reading it now. Also, the website that standford1463 mentioned is pretty good...sometimes the quizzes go into a lot of unnessecasy detail (as does Barron's)
This is some info on the dynasties. Shang:Yellow River Valley, was isolated which caused them to believe they were the center of the world Chou: longest dynasty, Mandate of Heaven (China closer to heaven than other countries) Qin: many construction projects (Great Wall), was eventually the downfall of dynasty Han: ruled by Huns, Confucian ideas major part of this dynasty (educated rulers) Sui:Beginning of Golden Age and reunification of China Tang: China becomes more powerful due to Silk Road, Buddhism enters China (from India I believe) Song: Pre-modern era, commercial development Yuan (Mongol): increase trade (change from Song where there was little trade) Ming: Ming voyages brought down by Neo-confuciasts Qing:Europeans enter Chinas, Opium War Republic of China: rapid modernization
Next question:
Give one or two facts on each of these religions(where they originated, who used them, major philosophies, etc.):
Polytheism
Confucianism
Daoism
Leaglism
Hinduism
Buddhism
Judaism
Christianity |

| Ethiopia was never conquered by Italy, they attempted to, but they failed really badly. aka Battle of Adowa. So technically Ethiopia was never a colony of Italy.
and Ethiopia was never a colony of any European countries |

| first independent country in Africa is Ghana because technically Ethiopia had never been colonized,
Polytheism- many gods, practiced by early river civilizations
Legalism- not a religion, a government idea, use strict centralized gov't
Daoism- "the way" harmony of nature, yin/yang
Hinduism- 4 caste system, untouchables, Aryan religion
Buddhism- started by Siddhartha Gautama in Nepal, Four Noble Truths, 8 fold path
Judaism- 1st monotheistic religion, believed in one God, started in Judae?
Islam- Koran, Mohammad, Mecca/Medina, pilgrimage
Christianity- one God influenced by Judaism, Jesus a prophet, the Bible.
Opium War- the Opium War was started by China's need to escape from Britain's imperialist policies and isolate itself. China lost because of its inferior army/navy however, and the results were that foreign countries started putting spheres of influence in the country. Also many people became addicted to opium |
