Don't waste your time if he was just looking at the test but not telling students answers.

Part of the reason they tell the teachers of the AP subjects not to be in the rooms with the students taking the test is so that the teachers also don't see all of the questions, since they reuse them from year-to-year.

You know, what you might do, and this may let you sleep a little better at night, is ask your English teacher what he was doing in the room. Just a little "Hey, thanks for the support coming in during the test. All my other AP teachers tell me that you guys aren't allowed in. Guess they just didn't want to..." will give you a pretty good gut instinct about whether this was really just an accident or not. Then, if you get the feeling, it was intentional, you can decide where to go from there.

If you think that the teacher did something major to influence the scores of your whole class, then it's the right thing to rat him out.

Realize the consequences of such a decision. The teacher may well get fired, the students may get their scores invalidated just because of a few words. It's definitely not very good if they find out that you were the one who contacted the ETS.

hmm i respect you for caring about the rules but i think you need to think about why the rules were created -- to ensure that no one cheats and so the students cannot ask the teachers clarifying questions.

it appears to me that none of that happened so calling in would probably result in far more hassle than the little misdemeanor was actually worth.

perhaps your teacher was in the classroom and that distracted you but your teacher is in your classroom for all tests so its nothing new and he probably wasn't in there for very long..

not to be rude but your proposal is ludicrous. If he said nothing or gave no answers then clearly he was not cheating. Why would you rat him out? People work hard to prepare for AP exams and ratting him out puts all that hard work to waste.

I think some folks need to remember that it's not just about the information that he may or may not have given to the classmates this year, it's about the additional information that he has access to (that he shouldn't have for classmates in the future.

First of all, tell me which person [expect sometimes the proctors] follow the hard and fast rules of ETS?!?!?! Also, even if you report that, ETS is not gonna take you word for sure!..They will make inquiries, etc...

And if you are proved wrong, others would PROBABLY know that it was you....Now tell me, why ruin your reputation?

Also, even if it's "PROVEN" that it violated the terms of the testing room, ETS will just tell every one to retake the test [for no extra fee I guess]...but still, no one would like retaking that 3 hour-humongous test!!!

Why rat ? You would only screw future grades because they is one less teacher teaching AP, and a lot of Teachers do not like to teach AP. So by being a rat you will screw over people.

You are willing to jeopardize your scores, your classmates' scores, your teacher's job, and the right for your school to even administer AP exams because he came in the room? Wow. You are pretty hardcore. Consider putting in an application at ETS.

umm...if you WANT your scores to be cancelled, the scores of all ur friends to be cancelled, and your teacher to be banned from ever teaching AP again.

LOL at "Consider putting in an application at ETS."
