I think people should figure out more of what the exams are before they go to self study for them. Ex: envi sci (i took this year) is only good for people (imo) that have a broad knowledge of general sciences - ecology and biology in particular. the amount of info on the test was amazingly broad compared to other AP classes ive been in.
also though, i'd like to self study for some more exams.
here's what ive taken:
micro: 5
macro: 5
eng lang: 4
APUSH: 5
US gov: 5
envi sci: 5
next year im taking classes in:
Calc AB
Psych
Eng lit
Euro
so those are off the table.
I was thinking self study for:
world hist
human geo
comp. gov/pol.
any comments on that guys? i'm kinda worried all of this will make me seem very one sided and not well rounded. haha. so many AP's in social sciences and 2 subject tests in history.
I honestly wish i could take an AP phsyics and do well (i love physics) but my schools science program SUCKS... so I have a pretty weak groundwork in the sciences.
it really depends on your interests. a science person would find it easy to self-study ap bio or ap chemistry while a history person would find it easy to self-study apush or ap euro
im bumping this to ask another question. well i took the AP WH test and got a 5. well i thought a lot of people at my school got 5s but no, i was 1 out of 3 people who got a 5 out of a total of 60+ kids who took the test in my school who are really smart and deserve that 5. Comparing CC, there are a lot of people here who got 5s. and those who self studied exams most say they got 5s or 4s. i just woke up to the reality of AP scores and like i said in the beggining, im taking 7 ap tests to get the national ap scholar. should i still go for it or not? i really want to be distinguishable for UCLA.
i think it has a lot to do with how good of a student you are (most CC people likely get high marks in that area) how self-motivated you are, and if you can do OK on tests.
I self studied an AP micro 5, easiest test ever lol. I think for the right kind of people (some just are good enough students, pretty committed, end up getting loads of 5's, while others rarely get 5's) can self study themselves to tons of 4's or 5's.
