Regular English or AP English Lang.

I am considering taking AP English Language and Composition but my already rigor schedule leads me to believe not to take it. Next year, I will take AP US History, AP Psychology, Honors Chem, Pre-Cal, and Student Council.

I am skeptical that my schedule will be too rigorous but I would probably slide by with a C.

For those who did or didn't take it, did you regret it?

No offense, but your schedule isn't all that rigorous. AP Psych is a joke.

Yes, definitely take it.

Agreed with above. 2 APs isn't vigorous. English Lang doesn't have much homework anyway.

Personally, I think that if you are going to challenge yourself, you should do so in English classes. We're all going to have to do quite a bit of writing in college, so it would be a shame to miss out on an opportunity to learn everything you can in high school.

Don't make the same mistake I did. I took regular English (I also thought my schedule was too rigorous) and ended up getting the toughest teacher, notorious for being the GPA killer. All my friends all told me that AP English Language is an easy A and that I should have taken it. It was too late to change classes; I ended up getting 2 B's in regular English. I deeply regret that decision.

i think you need to ask the people who have already taken the class to know how rigorous the class is..
Eng lang @ our school is no joke. and add that to APUSH = hours and hours of work

but really, apeng trains you so much in one year. and it preps you for your essays too (:

Find out about it before you sign up.

AP English at my school is a joke. I don't think we ever actually talked about the AP exam. But there is a ton of homework that has nothing to do with English. Eh.

Find out if yours is a lot of homework, etc.

Yeah, the only course that actually sounds difficult APUSH.

I'd suck it up and take AP English Lang.

It's not a terribly difficult class. It all depends on the teacher.

Be prepared to write a ton of essays though.

If you're already a strong English student, you will find the AP exam really easy. lol

I don't regret taking the class, but I didn't really enjoy it.

I would like to add that my PSAT scores were low last year because I didn't care about the test. My reading was 41 and Writing was 53.

^ then you might have some trouble reading on the AP test. I had to read very slowly on the passages and I was still unsure what the main subject is (but I figured it out after reading the questions ).

However, that could be due to the fact that my english teacher was sucky and never gave us any type of "harder" readings like that before the AP exam. Try to read a lot during the year.

But like you said, you didn't care about the PSAT; it's not a fair comparison.

Obviously the rigor of the AP English class varies by school.
In my school AP English was SUPPOSED to be an easy A but i was in the only class with the new teacher(the former AP Lit teacher-so u know shes gonna be hard) and i managed a B+ while if i had any other teacher i would of had an A. SO it varies. Ask people who already took the class and see how tough it is.
Our opinions dont really matter cause we dont go to your school so we dont know how tough the class is.
