I am currently a senior in high school and I'm planning in majoring in architecture, but I'm not sure where I should go. I live in Pensacola, FL but I'm willing to go out of state. I have a 4.19 GPA, 1250 on my SAT, and 27 on my ACT. I volunteer about 4 hours every week, but I don't really hold any leadership positions. I've been looking into the University of Florida, because it seems to have the best architecture program in Florida (but it is supposedly really difficult to get into). I am also applying to Auburn because I only live two hours away from it. More recently though, I've really been looking into Cal Poly in San Luis Obisco, CA. I know it is very far away, but it seems like it is a very good school for architecture. As of now, Cal Poly is really high on my college list. I can't decide if I want to apply early decision or not though because if I do get into UF I would basically go to college for free. Can anyone give me any advice on these schools or other colleges in my area that might be worth looking into. Thanks.

If you apply early decision to Cal Poly, you're required to go there so if it's not your #1, don't apply early. Although, they do have a great program, and so does USC

I need to update my info a little bit. I just got my october SAT scores and I brought my 1250 up to a 1330.

JSA, I'm from Pensacola too! and I'm a freshman in the arch. program at U Miami. UM is worth taking a look at, your test scores are in their range and they have a pretty good program, especially if you like New Urbanism.

No kidding! I am from Pensacola too, and I just got accepted to Tulane's School of Architecture. Personally, I wouldn't recommend UF for architecture because it just seems kind of shady, and I don't think it will prepare you for the work force. I just got back from a visit at Tulane this past Wednesday, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

if you wanted to create a portfolio- I would look at Cornell, Cooper Union, Rice, Pratt- ect. but if not--- then Cal Poly is a good school.-
