Question about More than One Portfolios!Help Pls!

Hello, everybody!

I am a Transfer student who knows that I want to do Architecture. I am a CC student in Texas with pretty good load of classes such as Calc 3 and Differential Equations; Calculus-Based Physics my freshman year with a GPA of 3.8...I am a Secretary of Student Government, VP of the International Club and taking a couple of other officer positions..Working full-time as a Math Tutor

My question is about the portfolio:

Since I am applying to more than 1 schools I have to prepare several number of portfolios. The drawings and pictures I am going to use are not going to go to all of them or I don't have enough...I don't understand whether the portfolio should include our authentic pieces of art or it should be a copy of an original portfloio that stays for us?

I am really confused and that's why I am asking for help!

Thanks!!!

You are NOT sending original pieces to colleges. What I did was photograph all the pieces I had that I liked, organized them on my computer in 8x11 sheets in photoshop, put them on a USB and brought them to Kinkos. Then I went through everything and narrowed it down to 20 I liked.

Once you have 12-20 works you have chosen (and the number of copies you want, based on how many colleges you're applying to) or whatever they ask for that you like, take it back to Kinkos and ask for X copies of each. Then you have to organize each print in a binder (and in protective sleeves), and possibly write a sentence or two about each one (if they ask for it).

You end up with several identical portfolios which are PRINTS of each work. Do not send originals: they don't like it, and you wont get them back.

So about 12-20 is the appropriate number of entries? Twenty seems like a lot!

Not all schools want photo reproductions. You need to follow their directions very specifically. Some schools want slides or a CD or electronic transmission.
