RPI vs IIT, Please Help

Sorry for opening another "school vs. school thread" again...but I really need some advice.
I have asked the same question on the archinect before, but the thread ends up become a fight between some IIT haters and an IIT alumni, so I want to hear some fair comments.

I am accepted by both RPI and IIT as a transfer student from a California Community College. RPI offers me a summer admission as a junior, while IIT requires me to start as a freshman.

From what I've heard, RPI is in transition from a practical building slash history theory approach to more of an experimental research and design atmosphere, which pushes computer/scripting driven architecture a lot. But on the other hand, I also heard that RPI has a strong emphasis in the structural part of architecture. Personally I'm okay with the progressiveness in computer/scripting design, and I like the design part more than the structural part. So which description about RPI is actually true?
My another concern is that I've had no architecture education before, and I lack confidence to compete with the third year students in RPI (They've had at least 4 studio classes and I have none!).

For IIT....I've heard that students will have a lot of freedom of choosing concentrations that they are interested in since year 3. And they seem to be less rigid than before (like pushing miesian architecture), but I don't know much about the quality of the program. And I don't mind to start as a freshman if that is necessary, but I am not sure if the time and money worth it or not.
ps: In architect, many people seem to hate IIT and I don't know why. What do you think about this school?

Any comments or opinions would be very much appreciated
