Good idea to do engineering then arch? Also, UTexas dual degree, anybody?

Hey guys,

Well, it looks like I'll be taking Civil Eng. the coming college semester, but an architect our construction company works with advised me that taking enf before arch could mean your creative abilities vanish. Naturally, its true that eng is more structured and rigid and arch is more creative, but by taking civil eng, do you lose those artistic abilities?

I was thinking about this, and now I'm even more P'Oed that i didn't get into Texas dual degree program(B.arch+B.archeng) (they stuck me in liberal arts). By the way, anyone know anyone taking this program? It sounds good to me.

The reason Texas denied me was because there was a discrepancy in the essays ( I only submitted the ones they said on the ApplyTexas website, but apparently that page was wrong) AKA, it wasn't my fault. Anyway, three weeks after the app deadline, they told me I had to write another essay. So my app got smushed under a big pile of other apps and they never got around to it. Even after I appealed to be reviewed as an on time candidate, they screwed me over. So now I don't know what to do with the deadline approaching. I'm thinking I should write an email to the dean of architecture and the dean of engineering. I'm going to post this in the Texas thread. Any help would be appreciated.
