"What Color is Your Parachute" is one of the books most often suggested for job seekers. It is updated regularly. While its focus may be on career changers and job seekers, early versions had some very helpful exercises for those who were unsure of a path. "I Could do Anything, If I Only Knew What it Was" is another guide that might be helpful.
Actually architecture is a curious path. On one hand it incorporates many fields (art, science, business, psychology, etc.), and could be just the future you seek. On the other hand, it will take a firm committment.
An English degree is never a waste. I'm amazed at how many professionals cannot write well (myself included).
