MFA Acting at Rutgers

I auditioned at URTA in Chicago and Rutgers said they want to fly me out as they are interested in me. I am trying to get as much info as I can about the school. I am from California, so I don't know too much about the MFA program. Any insight would be helpful, thanks...

I auditioned as an undergrad for the BFA, but I understand that the MFA is very good so congrats! William Esper and a lot of the rest of the acting faculty trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse or Esper's studio, so expect a strong Meisner influence. You might want to read or refresh yourself with On Acting before you go.

Thanks

Thanks fish. I have a pretty extensive Meisner training (one reason I think they like me).

Alumni include Calista Flockhart, James Gandolfini from Sopranos, Kristin Davis from Sex in the City and lots of folks on Broadway.

While it's true that those three did attend Rutgers, none of them have an MFA. M-G has a fairly good reputation for its BFA program and I'm sure that the reputation is similar for the MFA. It's known as a strenuous three year program. If I'm not mistaken the app deadline is March 1 so I guess you'll have to make up your mind soon!

Both Flockhart and Gandolfini are members of the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni. Does that mean they're graduates? Not really sure. Galdofino may have been an undergrad at RU. There is no mention of him attending Mason Gross only that he was a communications major.
