Saic

Has anyone ever transfered from SAIC to another school? With the credit/no credit system, I'm wondering if one would have to basically start over at the new school.

No, I'm considering transferring there and they've already calculated my credits from OSU, and almost everything counts, I should be able to be out of there in 2-3 years.

SAIC will give you grades if you prefer. I believe you have to tell each instructor at the beginning of the semester. The admissions counselor we met with suggested this if you thought you might want to transfer out.

@AdvMom: seriously? Are those grades that will matter when students are applying for a grad school/apply for jobs?

@artistmom: sorry if I thought you were asking about something else.

For grad school or a job, the grades probably have little, if any, value. However, if you might transfer to another school instead of getting a BFA from SAIC, the other school might want to see grades before they give you credit for those classes.

AdvMom: Thanks for the advice. Exactly my concern...that if my d decides she doesn't want to stay at SAIC, she might not get credit for the SAIC courses she has taken toward a BFA elsewhere. I'm pretty confident she's going to love it, but just in case...she should ask the professors for grades.

@AdvMom: thanks! It's good to know that you could ask for grades, I think I'm going to do that too (if I go there).
