Is it possible?

Hi I'm a African-American (Nigerian) student. I play varsity basketball in NY. I'm going to be a senior, and I have yet to be recruited. I little to no exposure truely, but I'd really like to start putting out YouTube videos, and whatnot. Is it possible for me to get recruited at a DIII school? My gpa is a 3.63, and I'm an AP Scholar. I'm 6'2 (6'3 with sneakers), I'm very long, of avg. speed, can dunk, and I'm more of a slasher.

Well do you think I could play DIII, or even get recruited by a DII or any school by May? I haven't started applying for college (I just recently started my CommonApp), so I don't know how this stuff works.

I would prefer a school that is good academically, that would pick up a SG/SF...are there any good schools that are below DI-DII?

I know absolutely nothing about basketball or the timing of recruiting for that sport, but rest assured, there are A LOT of excellent Div. III schools out there!

There are a lot of very knowledgeable basketball posters out there on this site, and no doubt they can give you some solid guidance. Good luck!

Take a look at BeRecruited.com and get registered. Its free and provided a wonderful way to become part of the recruiting world for high school kids. Start sending letters out to schools that interest you..............they have form letters and they are sent out for you by email! You'll be able to see who looks at your profile everyday..........very exciting! I have no affiliation to the site, but loved it!
Just so you know, D3 schools can and do offer ACAdemic SCHOLARSHIPS for athletes.....NCAA's rules don't allow them to give athletic scholarships, but they can offer any other type...........who cares? Money is Money! Many of the D3 schools guaranteed the 4 years and offered incremental bonuses for the level of SAT scores.....many kids end up taking them a couple of more times their senior year.....one D3 school offered my daughter $3500 for a 50 point increase in SAT's.
So look at everything that is out there............be focused and treat the process like a job. Be professional, keep good records, return calls to coaches even if you have no interest! You a building your reputation and you want it to be stellar! Good Luck!
