Today I got my official likely letter on paper from Penn. What a day! It seems my recruiting journey is over. Once again, thank you all for your advice and support, and I hope future rowers can use this thread in the future. OldScarecrow - my stats have not changed since then. I got recruited with those.

thehistorian,

Congrats on your LL and Ivy recruiting journey. It has been interesting to watch (from the sidelines) your recruiting journey and learn more about the how another Ivy sport gets its talent. It is vastly different in Ivy baseball. ;-) You did a great job of seeking advice and following through on that advice. Remember to pay it back some day.

oldscarecrow,

Give yourself a big pat on the back. Very well done.

Congratulations thehistorain,

It is a testament to your grit and determination -- well done. Relish and take advantage of this opportunity. It is rare.

Best to you,

OS

I have a question about official visits. I am interested in swimming D3/low D1 (senior this year) and the recruiting director at my top choice said that he ran out of official visits to give out during the ED/EA period. Does this actually happen, or have I thrown my ED to a school that doesn't want me enough?

Have never heard of "running out of Oficial Visits". Remember Official Visits are only if the college pays for your transportation, food and/or entertainment. You certainly can visit the school (paying your won way) and set it up with the coach to stay with a player and meet with the coach. If the college coach is reluctant at this point he/she may have run out of athletic $$, or have no more influenced spots/tips sway with admissions, and/or perhaps they have already filled their recruiting class. However, if this is your #1 choice and you really want to go to this school, then go make an unofficial visit and meet with the coach and ask him/her some very pointed questions regarding your recruitiment so you know exactly where you stand. Hang in there and make your visits, but make sure you have some serious discussion with the coaches on the phone before you go so you know exactly where you fit in their recruiting class or not. Best of luck.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've already gone down to meet the coach (I live in MA, so it was not too much of a hassle) for an unofficial visit. He told me over the phone that he had just run out of trips available to him, which made it seem like he had run out of money to get me on a trip. I made it evidecnt that I would apply ED1, and I have a good relationship with him so hopefully it will be enough
