Athletic Recruit as a transfer?

Does anyone know the process for an athlete wanting to transfer?
Is it the same as applying as a freshman, should my son contact coaches at schools he is interested in transferring to? Can coaches help in the admission process for transfers the same way they can help admit a freshman?

Corinthmom,

No, it is not the same.

The transfer question is always answered with...it depends. Acutally, it depends on many things. I suggest you read the NCAA transfer guide (URL below) and call the NCAA about your particular situation. By reading the guide, you will understand the requirments, definitions and language. In addition, you can search this site as many have posted this same question. Good luck.
