When do athletes find out decisions for early action?

I'm just wondering. Do they get a likely letter or something? When does this usually happen?

Some recruited athletes get likely letters. If they're going to be admitted in the early round, they will find out at the same time, and in the same way (email/snail mail/access to online applicant site) as every other early applicant.

Likely letters only exist in the Ivies, and yes, they are most commonly offered and received in October so that athletes can have the assurance that if they apply ED (or pass up that opportunity to wait for a school with RD only) they have a commitment of acceptance from the school they matched with.
