Auburn vs. Clemson

i just got my acceptance letter the other day for clemson and now I have to choose between clemson and auburn. I have been to both within the past year and liked both a lot. I got inot engineering at both. I also am doing ROTC and whichever one i choose. What are some pros and cons of each.

Go to the one with the better engineering program that you are interested in.

Both are good schools. After making the rounds to several engineering schools with my son the past year including both Auburn and Clemson, the facilities are all very similar. Some schoools are ranked higher than others; however, you will probably use the same textbooks, do similar projects etc. at the schools.

Between Clemson and Auburn:

US News and World Report: Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs ranks them virtually the same.
(I am not sure Clemson is way more prestigious as noted above)

Where did you like the "fit" better. Where would you be happier?

Here in the Southeast Clemson does carry more prestige than Auburn, mostly because of the degree of difficulty in getting into Clemson vs Auburn. However, both campuses share a lot of similarities both in looks and in academics. My friends at Clemson spend a lot of time on Lake Hartwell and camping in the nearby mountains. Clemson is a very small town, smaller than Auburn but it is great if you are outdoorsy. Auburn is in a larger town and has more to do in terms of nightlife. Auburn has a new Wireless Engineering program that is supposedly one of the only programs of it's type in the US. Also, Auburn just opened it's new engineering building so the facilities should be first rate. My impression is that both campuses foster a strong sense of pride in their students because everyone I know who goes to those schools absolutely loves it and they say that it feels like family. I don't hear that about other schools like UGA or Bama. I don't think you can go wrong with either Clemson or Auburn...either way get used to wearing orange and GO TIGERS!!

im also deciding between auburn and clemson! however everyone i talk to tells me i should go to clemson because it is just considered a better school, not that auburn is considered bad, just clemson is considered tougher to get into. I am not going into engineering im going into prevet and i know clemson has a very good program, however auburn offered me a scholarship for doing pre vet there, plus auburn has a vet graduate school and clemson doesnt.. but clemson is still my top choice i think. ya i agree about not feeling the pride and community at UGA i live in ga and i didnt even apply because ive visited and didnt like it too much.. but im excited for either one i choose and im depending on the visits to be the deciding factor!

Christina - Congratulations! I think you should give a hard look to Auburn because their veterinary school is one of the best in the region, better than Clemson. And if they are giving you $$$ on top of that then you have it made! The AU vet school is really hard to get into, and if you look at the website it says that they train the dogs for Dept. of Homeland Security...ahh I would love to be involved in that but I don't want to be a vet!!! If it was a choice for me to go to Clemson without aid and Auburn with aid I would go to Auburn. Things are just too dicey for me right now so I personally wouldn't forgo an offer of $$!!

ok thanks for the advice! ya i think its a 50/50 tie between them right now and the financial aid awards for each school are going to be the deciding factors! (unless i dont get alot from either school in which case ill have to stay in state and go to a small school i got into as a back up =[)
