Nonrefundable deposits for tuition, housing, decision day

Hope to hear from an adcom or a current Auburn parent that can help us with this.

Our acceptance letter asks us to confirm our invitation to become an Auburn student by submitting our deposit online. This is a tuition deposit.

By submitting this deposit, are we forfeiting the May 1 accept/decline decision?

The letter further goes on to state that we will be provided additional housing info once our tuition deposit has been received.

So, am I to understand that we cannot apply for housing until we put a deposit down for tuition?

Will putting this housing deposit down cause us to forfeit the May 1 accept/decline decision?

I'm only quoting this May 1 date based on guidance counselor information sessions quoting this as the day that you have to tell your school of choice that you are going to attend.

Does Auburn have its own decision day where you have to tell them that you accept or decline admission into their university, or do they hold to the May 1 day, and you just have to eat any nonrefundable deposits you may have given for tuition and housing?

Thanks for any help you can give some confused, yet ecstatic, parents.
