| I applied early action and was accepted. I won't be going, but I do think it's a great school. |

| my stats My ethnicity is Indian (from India); female; Hindu
GPA: 98/100
Rank: 33/463-ish (in the top 10% ) Our school is fairly competitive.
SATs: (aren't spectacular but here they are)
M: 680
V: 600
W: 590
Essay: 9/12
SAT II:
Math: 540 (*sighs* didn't have a functioning calculator)
Biology: 580 (*sighs*)
I'm planning to retake biology and take US history in April
I have taken the most rigorous courses offered at my school--all IB classes since the 9th grade. I've finished writing the 4,000 word essay required for the IB diploma and I am now working on the community service hours and the other internal assessments for English, Spanish, Chemistry and History. As far as the IB tests, I've only taken one test which was last May. I took the Math Studies/Statistics test and received a 6 out of 7 on it.
Awards:
-I have been a Superintendent Scholar for 7 consecutive semesters. This is given to those who maintain at least a 90 average in all their honors/AP/IB classes and a 95 in non-honors/regular classes.
-Lettered in Academics
Extracurricular activities:
-Piano (for 10 years)
-Cultural and religious functions all year. One of these is the Diwali show that is put on for the Indian community. Diwali is a religous festival which I've been involved in for about 7 years.
-played JV tennis for 2 years
-tabla (type of indian drum) lessons
-hip-hop classes (I'm preparing for a recital in May)
-yoga classes
-tutoring for 6th graders
-volunteering at hospital
-volunteering at a local science museum
-community service projects (collecting clothes, toys, etc for orphanges and homeless shelters)
-I'm also involved in two projects which are raising money for the National Cancer Society. One is a music festival and the other is an International school dance where students will dress in the attire of their heritage. Both will be in mid-March.
-Vice-president of International Forum (cultural club at school)
-Treasurer of Junior Statesmen of America (debating club)
-committee chairman for National Honor Society
-Attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Boston in 2004
Work experience:
-babysitting
Recommendations: I don't think I sent one...I did the common application.
Essays: The personal statement was good; could've been better
Honestly, I don't really know much about Austin College. I know it's a great school academically, but what about the social life? Are the two pretty balanced? |

| I just got accepted this week, and thought some information about myself would be useful. I was shocked on how gracious they were with financial aid, and also their admissions staff is beyond friendly.
GPA: 3.0 (I go to a girls competitive prep-school who doesnt rank)
SAT: Verbal: 690
Math: 640
Writing:670 (Essay 11/12)
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Personal Statement: I hope it was decent, being that I want to be a writer.
As far as extra-cirrculars go: I was a varsity athlete four years, done a lot of theater, and am a published poet.
As you can see from earlier my GPA wasnt great, but they were still VERY nice about financial aid (gave me about 40,000). |
