Baldwin Wallace Summer Intensive

I noticed on the BW site that Vicky Bussert is doing a 6 day summer intensive this July. Has she ever done this before and if so has anyone attended?

I know that it has been done in the past. I can't really say if she has been a part of it though. But the fact that she is doing it is great. It is so valuable to work with her, she will teach you so much in such a small amount of time. I think this is the first year that you have to audition to get into the program too. This is a great experience especially for those who can't afford or give up the amount of time needed for the 6+ week camps.

Thanks for replying. My son attended a Masterclass with her in November and was very impressed with her and her students. It put Baldwin Wallace in his top three choices for next year.

My D was also very impressed with Vicki and the talent she saw at the school so now BW is one of her top picks also! Is the summer intensive program for graduating seniors or for juniors?

This is an amazing opportunity in my opinion. Basically you will be in the program for a week. You will work with all the faculty in the MT program, including Scott Plate who will coach everyone on their monologues. Scott is an amazing prof. I learned so much from him last semester, and I can't wait for my next 2 with him. Also you will get to work with the best voice teachers the con has to offer. I hope some of you do attend!

To mhappiness, as I understand it the program is for students who are juniors now. I think it is to get them ready to audition in the fall. I can't believe it is coming so quickly.

re: acceptances

My S is dying to hear, but hasn't yet. He's a little nervous 'cause he has a confict with performances he can't miss, but he really thinks this Intensive will be the greatest!

Can anyone tell me about Capital University's Conservatory and their major which seems to combine opera/voice and musical theatre. My daughter has received most of her training H.S. at Umich MYE program and then the Mpulse summer programs 06 and 07. She is not ever going to be a triple threat which is was CCM seems to specialize in--any info at there?

teh60, your query seems misplaced on the Baldwin Wallace thread. Perhaps you can start a new thread in the general MT discussion area?

B-W Summer Intensive

Rocks! Per my S. (It has to as he's addicted to texting, and has only sent a couple to his GF who is leaving him in Aug. for Tisch!)

summer intensive

My friend went to the summer intensive, and all I have heard since is I'm going to go to BW, BW, to study with Vicky, Vicky, Vicky and end up on Broadway. But guess what! The summer intensive was to teach people to audition for Musical Theatre programs, and so far, these kids are not doing so hot in the audition process! My friend was actually told what songs and monolgues would be good. From what my friend has heard the group that attended the intensive and auditioned in October were mostly waitlisted, and people without BW training in auditioning were chosen(?) It's early though, but if they have it again this year, maybe you should ask for a list of where the people in last summer's program were accepted before you decide whether the training you receive in that week will transfer to real life.

As far as the actual college program, people are working, and that's the desired outcome.
