Visit??

My son will be at BW next week for the MT workshop on the 26th and then to audition the next day. We were hoping he would be able to sit in on some classes on Friday before the workshop. I called the Conservatory and was told there are no MT classes on Fridays. Can a current student confirm this for us? No acting classes, no voice, etc. If this is the case, we would still like to get some sort of a "feel" for the school. Should we just come over to the campus early and just explore on our own?

AZKMom,
The "MT Workshop" classes are the ones worth seeing. As far as I know, these all take place Monday-Wednesday and Tuesday-Thursday. Not on Fridays. I'm not sure when campus tours are offered, but if you could get one, that would be a good way to get to know BW. But honestly, with the MT Audition Workshop, the master class, and the audition day, you'll get a good feel for what it's like here.

I can't believe it's already audition time!! Best of luck to your son!

AZKMom. Kyle is right there are no MT classes those days. But If your son wants to get a feel for what the theory program is like at the school he could probably attend Harmony in the morning. Also, I recomend him trying to set up a possible voice lesson. The MT workshop that he'll be attending friday night is the layout for what freshman workshop is so that'lll be the closet he'll get to a MT class. I'll also be one of the student helpers for the audition day.

Thanks Kyle and Tim!!

How would he go about lining up a voice lesson?

We are getting so excited (and nervous) about our trip! It's hard to believe that the time has finally arrived. We will drive through the day Thursday and arrive that evening. That is why we were looking for something to occupy us on Friday until the workshop.

Contact admissions and they should be able to make it happen. I personally haven't done it in the past, but I know others have. Good luck!

We attended the workshop last November when my son was a junior. It was a scheduled campus visitation day and they kept us very busy until the Masterclass. The class last year was invaluable. It really showed what goes on during a session with Vicky Bussert. I think you will leave with a good idea of how the classes are run.

Although the OP has already made the trip, perhaps this will help some of the future visitors. For hotels, check Middleburg Hts., hotel alley with Red Roof, Hampton, (used to be Holiday Inn but may have changed hands), all right down the road- easy access to both the airport and school. Delicious Bob Evans right there Yummm. (Olive Garden and all the rest of the chains as well)

My father was a much beloved Prof at BW and I grew up on the campus, make sure that if you have access to a vehicle that you drive through the MetroPark system. It is like none other. Besides the park is filled with students either driving or riding their bikes on the extensive bike trail through the parks. This is one of best things about Berea!

Enjoy your visit-
