Question re: audition materials required

Has anyone else filled out the 2013-14 Audition request Form for Ball State? If so, I have a question....I am not clear on what they want sent in with the audition request form. It says a theater resume, head shot, letter of recommendation, and "two music selections of contrasting styles, 16 bars each" together with the audition request form. It states that these materials must be sent in at least two weeks before the audition date.

What do they want for the "two music selections"? The actual sheet music? Or the titles of the songs? Help....?

I have not filled out the Audition Request form for Ball State, but it looks like from the website that they want the actual sheet music:

"Send all well-marked music to the Department of Theatre/Dance no later than two weeks before your audition to insure competent accompaniment."

So if you are requesting a Unifieds audition slot, do you have to send the music? B/c the website says, "Applicants auditioning in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles will need to provide their own accompaniment via CD/Ipod recordings. Students will also provide their own sound equipment."

It looks like if you are going to unifieds that you only need to send a head shot and LOR. That's what we're doing anyway. I wouldn't understand why they would want the sheet music.

You will use your own accompaniment cd or Ipod at all Unifieds, so you don't need to send the sheet music. FYI, last year dance was also not a part of BSU Unifieds, but they did ask about specific dance experience...and never say you are a *singer or *actor that moves well!

Walker1194,

Your Unifieds materials look good, just please don't forget to send your resume as well!

This is my first post so I hope I am doing this correctly. Hope I am doing it correctly. D applied and also sent in the audition request form for Unifieds. Do we need to send anything else at this point? Do we wait until it is closer to Feb?

Send your resume and headshot BEFORE the Unified deadline date: January 21. No pressure to send those until they're ready though!

taylor11:

According to the info on the audition application it says to send the resume, head shot, LOR "with this completed Unified Audition Request Form". Are you saying that is not the case? Please clarify if you know the answer. I have been holding onto the form waiting for the resume/head shots to be ready and to get the LOR in the same package as the form.

If you will have to wait a while for your resume, headshot, and LOR, I would reccommend that you send in those materials after you send in your application. I would reccommend that you send in your application as soon as possible, because it is absolutely okay to send in the audition request form separately from your materials!
