A Little Intimidated

Ball State University has been at the top of my list for a few months now due to its incredible musical theater program, the cost of the school, location, and because it produced two incredible alumni who now are my directors. My strengths are definitely in my vocals, followed by acting, and in a distant third dancing. I'm a little intimidated by the fact that I've had minimal dance training and am planning on auditioning for this school that according to some other posts on this forum, has a dance audition harder than CCMs... What I'm really trying to get down to... Does Ball State accept vocalists/actors/(distant third dancer), or only triple threats accepted?

Don't be intimidated! My D is an incoming freshman this year and you are right Ball State has an incredible musical theatre program. It's great that you have met someone who has graduated from the BSU program. You have time to take some basic dance classes if that would make you feel more comfortable. If you don't throw your hat in the ring with an audition, you will never know what could have been. My D didn't think the dance audition was that difficult. Some of the kids in my Ds class will be taking beginning level dance class. So I say, "Go For It!", and if you do audition maybe, you will get to meet my D If we can help with any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Do not fret!

While we work towards a student body that has strong skills in all three areas, we also work to help students who need assistance in one area. I can promise you the environment is supportive, positive, and nurturing. So, do not fret....do your best and I am sure you will be fine. Best of luck!

Thanks for the support. I'm a little less stressed about my audition at this point, and I'm going to be auditioning for musical theatre, acting, AND technical theatre(can you tell I'm a theatre nut), so if one doesn't work... I still have two other options.

Audition is coming up in February! I'm actually excited now at this point, more than nervous(the nerves are still there though, don't get me wrong!). We'll see how everything goes.
