Congratulations to all those admitted, and good luck to those who need financial aid to attend.
Balletislife, if you are interested in dance, the Faculty Dance Concert is the weekend of April 27th and the Senior Dance Concert is the weekend of May 11th. I just saw the Spring Dance Moderation Concert (for sophomores hoping to get accepted into the dance major program) and I was quite impressed with all but one dance.

FrostByte38 - Bard weighs interest a lot when admitting, waitlisting, or rejecting students. If you want really want to go to Bard, I would recommend writing a letter to admissions saying so and why. Why Bard? What would a Bard education mean to you?
Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): CR 750 M 600 W 690
ACT: 30 (didn't send. I think)
SAT II (if submitted): NA
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.19, (3.21 weighted)
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): about 130 out of 850
AP (place score in parenthesis): WH: 3, USH: 4, English Lang.: 5
IB (place score in parenthesis): NA
Senior Year Course Load: ap english lit, ap spanish lit, ap art history, ap psych, stats, econ/gov, journalism
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): just ap scholar, but i doubt that counts
Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Journalism (Entertainment Editor/staff writer), Book Club (founder/vice prez)
Job/Work Experience: NA
Volunteer/Community service: Nope
Essays: For the Bard essay, I sent a research paper about social networking that I wrote in my junior year. I didn't think it was particularly good but I got an A on it and it got me into Bard...
Teacher Recommendation: Both excellent
Counselor Rec: NA
Additional Rec: NA
Interview: NA
Other
Applied for Financial Aid?: YES
Intended Major: Lit. or art history
Country (if international applicant): NA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Mexican
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: slightly less than 70,000
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): first generation college student
Strengths: strong writer, strong SAT's, intellectual interest. it probably also helps that i'm mexican and from a city bordering with east l.a.
Weaknesses: GPA, class rank
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essay, recommendations
General Comments: I was rejected from every other private school I applied to (Grinnell, Hampshire, Macalester, and waitlisted at Reed) so I was surprised to see I got into Bard. My embarrassingly low g.p.a. can be attributed to my grades in 9th grade (i got a 2.0/2.8) but since, I've only gotten 3.5's and above. I'm crossing my fingers the financial aid comes through because it really seems like a great school.
I totally agree with lilygraces. If you really want to Bard Frostbyte, you should call. I've seen a thread about someone getting in after being denied, simply because his love for the school and his desire for learning came together into a moving telephone call to the admissions office.
