Bard class of 2009

I've finally decided -- I'm going to Bard this August. Annandale-on-Hudson, here I come!!

CC'ers who are going to Bard this year, do add your name to the roster!

Thank you, pianomom! I really appreciate all the helpful comments and advice you've given me in the last month. I have given a lot of thought to this matter, and discussed it with my parents and piano teacher, and in the end I think that I've made the right choice for myself and my family.

I will keep you updated!

Congratulations, wmgan, and the best of luck to you! Who will you study piano with? I remember you mentioning Peter Serkin at one point. Has that worked out?

fiddlefrog, I spoke with Mr. Robert Martin over the phone recently. He said they had yet to assign students to teachers but that since there will only be about 5 pianists in the first year, we will be able to have opportunities to play for all three members of the piano faculty (Melvin Chen, Jeremy Denk and Peter Serkin). I will most likely be studying with Melvin Chen, as he's the teacher I initiated contact with and he has already expressed interest in teaching me. Anyway, Robert Martin said that Peter Serkin prefers to only hear "finished" works, so it will probably work out great if I can study with Mr. Chen on a regular basis and play for Mr. Serkin once a month or so.
