Annoying transportation problem.Plz HELP!

Hi everyone! I will visit bard on Jan.5, depart from NYC area.

The problem is I dont have a car! Bard website suggests students to take Amtrak to Rhinecliff Station, then take a taxi from the station to bard. (the whole duration would be almost 2 hrs.) Since I scheduled to reach bard in the morning, the peak price of Amtrak is not really cheap even though I have student advantage card. Also I could take metro north rail to Poughkeepsie, then take a taxi to bard. Although metro north is relatively cheap, but Poughkeepsie is far away from bard, it'll take about 40 minutes to get there by taxi.

Is there any better way I can get to Bard? Thank you all in advance!

I would call the Admissions Office and let them know your dilemma. I'm sure they've seen it before, they'll have some suggestions.

A cab from the Rhinecliff train station for fare plus tip is about $20 and is much cheaper than taking a cab from Poughkeepsie

Thank you rgward! I think taking Amtrak+cab might be a better choice.

There is also what is called the Loop bus that goes from Poughkeepsie to Bard, and it's only a dollar. I'm not sure if it goes to Bard during the break though, so you might want to look into that. That's definitely your cheapest option though-- Metro North + Loop Bus= 15$ max
